I love this author in all her incarnations! I have been looking forward to this book for some time and it didn't disappoint. The story, well written, well paced, and sucked me right in. The characters are well developed and likeable. Note while this book contains MM and MFM relationships it is not an erotic story (no graphic sex), like her Tymber Dalton books, it is a love story though. I read it straight through, couldn't put it down. I loved the world building. A meteor fall a hundred years ago decimated the worlds population. America is much like it was in the early 1900's, with some still functioning tech around. Males and females are required to register with the(N)NAA, (the New North American Army) as infants and are required to serve 5 years between a certain time frame, with 2 year re-up after, if inclined.The story centers around Russ, Zo and Ted. Russ has just completed his 5 years and is heading home to his husband Ted and their Montana home stead. Russ was the top sniper of the Reds, who are the military special forces. Zo is about to finish her 7th year, a Red assassin and sniper, she is ready to opt out, she is sent by her CO to tract down Russ and talk him into re-upping. Ted is Russ's husband, a sol-e tech, which is a all around handy man for the remaining functioning tech. He was given medical exemption from military service due to a childhood injury and sent to a trade school instead.
The story is told from all 3 of the main characters POVs, were you lean their past, present and future hopes. Russ is heading home, on foot, aware his CO will send people after him to get him to re-up. He has been a valuable asset. Zo is sent after Russ and when she catches up, he talks her into returning home with him. Russ and Zo have an instant connection, an attraction as well. They are two broken people who hated the job they had to do for the Reds and just want some peace. They understand each other. Russ and Ted want a third, they want a family, and Russ sees Zo as a good fit. Ted and his small community are eagerly awaiting the return of Russ. They are soon aware that Russ may be in danger and start taking steps to hide and protect him on his return. When Russ and Zo make it to the homestead, the town is ready. The threat is eliminated and there is the HEA for Russ, Zo and Ted.
I purchased this trilogy through the authors gofundme campaign. After I read it, I bought a Kindle sharable copy to share with my friends who are on a tighter budget than I am. Really looking forward to the next book in the series!

I always enjoy this author's story. They are unique and detailed, giving me a great feel for the characters, I can't wait to read more about them.
not my thing, boring for the most part. I will not be reading the next stories. Some sweet stuff, but mostly to much self-dialog, and very little erotica. Guess I am not a fan of post-wörldend genre.
I have to be up in 5 hours. UGH. I kept saying one more chapter.... only con for me is that I normally refuse to read part of a series if it is not all out. I did not realize this was there case here.
The beginning is turgid and repetitive. Finally an ingenious story takes root. The last part drags on too long. Kansas was misspelled as Kanas and should be corrected. Location 3759.
Leslie Richardson writes a great book. I very quickly got sucked into the story line and became vested in the lives of the characters she has written. Set in a post apocalyptic world she writes strong characters. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us in the second book.
I loved this book! I thought Zola was an great heroine, efficient in killing but still a woman with heart. Russ and Ted were also great, I have a soft spot for Ted. I flew through the book, I couldn't wait to see how three of them worked out.
You can't go wrong with a Leslie Richardson or her partners in writings stories. They are well written. The characters feel real. They leave you wanting more.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
I would love to see Leslie and Tymber co-worker a book together. That would be epic. Lol Yes I know the truth. Can't wait for more. Now onto Bleake's
